Dubai Health Authority and Zayed University have partnered with Julphar, the UAE leading pharmaceutical company in the MENA region, to launch a unique initiative ‘Creative Healthy Initiatives Project’ (CHIP), aimed at engaging Dubai school students in real-life work experiences in the field of health.

The CHIP initiative will offer Zayed University students a unique opportunity to share health knowledge and tips with youth at schools in Dubai, as part of their research projects. The initiative challenges the University students to produce projects which demonstrate real life concepts and experience greater insights into the student experience.

Depending on the merits of proposals, eight teams of students will be formed to implement their projects with the participating schools.

Dr Chris Southgate, Dean of the College of Sustainability Sciences and Humanities at Zayed University said, “The CHIP project is an innovative approach to promoting healthy lifestyles amongst school children. It helps the students put into practice the theoretical knowledge that they learn in their courses. CHIP highlights Zayed University’s commitment towards community engagement and collaboration with government organizations such as Dubai Health Authority.”

DrUsamaALAlami, Associate Professor in Health Sciences at the Department of Natural Science and Public Health; at Zayed University and Project Leader said “working with students at Zayed University and fostering their creative and innovative ideas has been very rewarding. The students have shown enthusiasm and dedication. I am also honored to work with colleague from Dubai Health Authority who have been very professional in moving this project forward in collaboration with Julphar.”

Dr. Ramadan Ibrahim, Director, Health Regulation Department, Dubai Health Authority said: “As the authority ensuring the quality of public health in Dubai, DHA is keen to join initiatives that seek to create maximum awareness among members of the public of health issues and healthy lifestyles. The CHIP initiative is a case in point and is particularly important as it fits within the campaigns program DHA implements to target youth and children to adopt healthy lifestyles as they grow. This will help create generations of healthy people, which would in turn reduce healthcare burden for members of the public, their families and the government. We’d like to thank Zayed University and Julphar for joining hands with DHA on this creative initiative.”

Hence, we are delighted to support of the CHIP initiative to promote healthy thinking and behavior among students at an early age, which would help contribute to their well-being as well as to the community’s at large.”
