UAE-Based Julphar Diabetes Launches in Algeria

UAE Sunday November 11 – Following the launch of Julphar Diabetes in Dubai last September, the company announced its official launch in Algeria with its inaugural Scientific Diabetes Symposium which was hosted in conjunction with its Algerian partner Accentis Pharma in Algiers. Attended by over 300 Algerian doctors and healthcare practitioners, the Symposium attempted to tackle some of the key challenges posed by the rise of the regional and global diabetes epidemic. Julphar Diabetes is a division of Ras Al Khaimah- based pharmaceutical company Julphar. It manages the manufacturing and commercialization of diabetes products including the production of insulin crystals. Eminent regional expert in the field of diabetes care, Dr. Ahmad Ghazzaoui, Head of the Endocrinology Department at Hammoud Hospital Saida in Lebanon. and previously Board Chairman and General Manager of Saida Governmental Hospital in Lebanon addressed the attendees. In his presentation entitled, ‘Early initiation of insulin’ on diabetes as a growing public health issue worldwide, he particularly focused on Type 2 diabetes which has become a major healthcare burden associated with an increasing risk of coronary vascular diseases. Speaking about the Symposium, Mr. Amin Kourabi- General Manager of Accentis-pharma,said:’ We are delighted to host such an insightful event with Julphar Diabetes. Diabetes is a major issue in Algeria and across North Africa that needs to be addressed and the launch of Julphar Diabetes in Algeria will help significantly in the fight against the disease.’ Dr Ghazzaoui commented: ‘I sincerely hope that the Scientific Diabetes Symposium will become a regular fixture in the arena of diabetes care. This is an excellent forum for the Algerian medical community to share experiences and I was pleased to hear positive feedback from the delegates after the event.’ Joe Saldanha, GM of Julphar Diabetes, hailed the event as a great success.
