Julphar Celebrates a Year of Education and Community Initiatives

As 2012 draws to a close RAK based pharmaceutical giant Julphar is looking back on a year of successful community and education initiatives developed by the Julphar Training Centre.

Commenting on Julphar’s community involvement, Ashraf Abu Arrah,Training Communication & Logistics Manager, Julphar Training Centre,said: ‘Since its inception Julphar has worked hard to acknowledge  the importance of working together in partnership with the local communities in which it operates.  The company particularly recognises that it has a vital and valid role in educating the members of these communities and the Governments about the importance of good healthcare and healthy living.

He continued, ‘importantly, we also want to be involved at the coalface with the training and development of our potential health care workers and physicians who will work across the region and the world. This has been an exceptionally busy year for us at the Julphar Training Centre. We hope to have an even more successful and   dynamic year in 2013.’

Throughout 2012 the Julphar Training Centre (JTC) organised a number of diverse activities with universities and government organisations from across the UAE, Oman and even further afield from the USA.

Highlights of the year included a Julphar-sponsored conference with the RAK Medical Health and Sciences University (RAKMHSU) in May which attracted over 100 delegates. Julphar also worked with the RAK MHSU in October this year at its Careers Fair where Julphar exhibited and also undertook a speaker slot talking about career planning in the pharmaceutical industry.

The company has built on its close relationship with Sharjah University during 2012. Earlier in the year in April, it worked with the university at its Soft Skills Training event where it exhibited and took a speaker slot. Later in the year it organised a World Pharmacy Day also at the University.

Earlier this month (December 2012) the company invited 40 students from Sharjah University to undertake Biosimilar Training.

Julphar has also worked with Ajman University of Science & Technology. At the beginning of the year it organisedan Industrial Training over two weeks for 65 students and will repeat this initiative early next year.

The company prides itself on working closely with RAK –based government departments including the Ministry of Interior where it sponsored Leadership Training for 20 employees this month. It has also scheduled a Customer Care & Service Excellence two day seminar for a further 20 employees next month (January 2013).

An exciting new initiative is the planned National Spirit Seminar for Julphar & other RAK Government authorities, also scheduled for January 2013.

Industrial Training for Pharmacy Students was a regular and ongoing highlight of the year. Julphar organised this activity not only across the UAE in Ajman and RAK, but also in Oman at the University of Nizwa and for a number of students from the University of Findlay in the USA. All in all over 200 students participated in these activities.
