This week that the Federal Cabinet has announced that there will be a unified pricing structure for medicines and some 6,619 medicines will be reduced, some by up to 40%, over the next 90 days.

The system will unify the prices of medicines with those of GCC countries, providing alternatives for every kind of medication for chronic and other diseases. It will also include mechanisms for regulating and following up on the prices of medicine.

Commenting on the announcement, Julphar CEO Dr Ayman Sahli said "We welcome this decision by the Ministry of Health, as we all work towards greater access to better medicines across the region. Julphar congratulates this initiative and is ready to cooperate in any way."
