UAE᾿s Julphar to open facility in Ethiopia

(MENAFN) UAE-based pharmaceuticals firm Julphar is set to launch a USD9.6 million plant in Ethiopia, Arabian Business reported.

The 40,000 sq m facility, which is based in the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, will produce 25 million bottles of suspension and syrup, 500 million tablets and 200 million capsules annually, which will be directed to all Africa.

Julphar is currently recruiting 50 local staff for the plant, which is scheduled to open next week.

Last year, Julphar completed the construction of a USD150 million Julphar XI, which is the first plant in the Gulf to manufacture insulin.

The company has partnered with Saudi Cigalah Group to open a facility in King Abdullah Economic City near Jeddah.

It is also constructing a plant in Algeria via a joint venture with the Algerian Ministry of Health, which will be completed next year.

Julphar makes more than 800 different types of drugs in its suite of 11 plants in Ras Al Khaimah, which are distributed over more than 40 countries.
