Jerome Carle General Manager of Julphar Responds to News Related to Establishing a New Facility for Julphar in Egypt
2018-03-22
The following is the full statement issues by Jerome Carle, General Manager of Julphar in response to the article published in Al Borsa newspaper on March 18, 2018, titled: ‘Julphar to establish AED 250m medicine facility in Egypt,’ and the article published in Mubasher titled ‘Julphar to build 250m pharma plant in Egypt,’ on March 19, 2018.
“With reference to the article published in Al Borsa newspaper on March 18, 2018, titled: ‘Julphar to establish AED 250m medicine facility in Egypt,’ and the article published in Mubasher titled ‘Julphar to build 250m pharma plant in Egypt,’ on March 19, 2018, I would like to clarify that both of these announcements are incorrect.
The articles wrongly reported that Julphar had made an investment of AED 250m and planned to open a 10,000 sq. m facility in the Badr Industrial Zone, an area northeast of Cairo.
I wish to reassure our stakeholders that we have no immediate plans to open a facility in Egypt. We currently have 16 manufacturing facilities in the UAE, Saudi Arabia, Bangladesh and Ethiopia and while Egypt is a very important market for us, we will not be opening any facilities in Egypt or elsewhere at this time.
As part of our efforts to add value to key markets such as Egypt we will continue to work with trusted local partners to ensure the availability of our products in Egypt and neighboring countries.
Since entering the market, we have forged many strong alliances with strategic partners including the Egyptian Ministry of Health (MOH), with whom we do a lot of important work.
We have 200 employees on the ground in the country and we continue to strengthen our presence. Our patients and customers in Egypt are a top priority for us and we have a duty to serve them.”
Jerome Carle, General Manager of Julphar
